Memories of 2001
wise friend once told me to treasure special times with family and friends, time that becomes "gold in life's memory box". Below, some of our members share their cycling memories from 2001.
Dan Spracklen: Coming into Gallipolis on Saturday of GOBA, 3 miles of gentle downhill after a week of grinding up and down. I was proud of Karen and Sara for their accomplishment and being around great friends in Dan and Alex. Smoothies!!!
Jay DeNise: I don't have any cycling memories from 2001 as I spent most of the year taking care of my folks. Mom passed away this summer at the age of 89. Dad, who will be 97 in January, is now comfortably situated at the DeWolfe House in Marion.
Charlie Evers: I guess I am addicted to the Kokosing Gap Trail in Knox County. My weekly trips there have resulted in making many new acquaintances. My weekly visits to the Kenyon College Book Store and buying snacks from the Amish make for a lot of nostalgia
Tom Rusnak: GOBA tour with a cast of thousands, while riding my Vision recumbent from Nelsonville to Marietta. The journey was long and hot towards the end. The time spent meant a return back to me to the very rolling and beautiful hills of southeastern Ohio that I once roamed freely.
Ian Fairclough: My first was quite memorable - a Wednesday evening ride, June 13, down to Waldo. There were about 15 of us. Dan Hart went blazing on ahead once we got to Richland Pike! I got to ride with Rocky, Glenn, and Linda down on St. James. After an ice cream break we headed back on Smeltzer Road, past the CMA church which has been my church home

Hikes & Parties!
ike and Janine Williams have volunteered to lead the next club hike, on Sunday, December 2nd at 12:30 p.m. This will be a delightful stroll around the Marseilles Reservoir. Meet at Mike and Janine's house (1166 Bellefontaine Ave) at 12:30 p.m. Should be fun!
Ian Fairclough is hosting a pot-luck bean-stew social-mixer party on Friday Dec. 7, possibly starting as early as 2PM to prolong the fun. The party will be at Ian's apartment, at 1293A Crescent Heights Rd. in Marion. Please e-mail Ian for details, at ifmarion@hotmail.com
Super hostess Linda Snow has again volunteered to host our club Holiday Party, on Friday, Jan. 11. Our celebrity chef, Nancy Lankton, promises good food for all. Details will follow, but start building an appetite.
Sunday rides: We're hoping to keep these rides going year-round, if a few hardy souls are willing to venture out. It's tough to head out the door on winter afternoons, but the rides are a joy. We start in McKinley Park, at Project Playground, at 12:45. Please e-mail Dan Sheridan at danshel@gte.net, or contact Lucy Lehner, if you are interested in riding.
